2010 Supply Chain Management Excellence

Dayton, Ohio – VHA Inc., a national health care alliance based in Irving, Texas, has recognized Premier Health Partners for supply chain management improvement & supplier diversity.

Premier Health Partners is one of only seven VHA member hospitals nationwide to receive the 2010 VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Excellence.  This category recognizes organizations exhibiting significant improvement in supply chain management processes. Entrants have engaged in processes that have significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of their supply chain management processes.

2010 Supplier Diversity Award

The 2010 Supplier Diversity Award recognizes VHA member organizations that utilize a diverse group of suppliers and are committed to promoting the economic development of minority, women and veteran owned business enterprises. VHA member judges base their scores and are judged on:

  • Suppler diversity program and measurable results
  • What sets your organization apart
  • Utilization of Alliance/GPO diversity contracts
  • Senior leader’s involvement
  • Community involvement and outreach to minority, women, and veteran owned business enterprises

“These awards validates the dedicated focus of our supply chain team to improve purchasing processes and distributing and managing the materials and products we need to take care of patients and run our hospital,” said Nick Lair, Chief Purchasing Officer. “Supplies are the second largest expense category for hospitals - behind salaries - so controlling these costs enhances our ability to hire more staff and provide better patient care. Given the tremendous pressures facing our hospital because of declining reimbursements and increasing community needs, we have to excel in improving efficiency.

“Improving supply chain performance positively impacts the bottom line, positioning the organization to have more resources to provide better care,” said Nick Lair, Chief Purchasing Officer.   “We all pay into the health care system in some way, and we want health care organizations to provide effective and efficient care.”
