Auto Safety for Moms-to-Be

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Off Site Icon (NHTSA), pregnant women should always wear seat belts when driving or riding in a car. Never place the lap belt above your belly and always keep the shoulder belt in front of you.The lap belt should sit across your hips, close to your pelvis. It is also important to move your seat back as far as you can while still reaching the pedals comfortably. The NHTSA recommends keeping at least 10 inches between your chest and the steering wheel (if driving) or dashboard (if riding). Airbags should remain functional during your pregnancy.
