The x-ray technician took images of my left leg at mid calf even as I explained that the injury was at the knees. She said she had to follow written order even though the person that wrote the orders was 25 feet away. This caused a delay and the need to re-do the x-rays. Causing more discomfort when a simple question about the order would have been less painful and efficient.

Dr Horne cares about his patients and explained the X-rays as well as questioned the nurse as to Covid policy so we could stay with mom before and after surgery and didn't need to leave the hospital. We appreciate that and it was needed with her dementia.

This was my first broken bone ever. I didn't know what to expect but thankfully everyone there knew what to do and explained all my questions some of which probably sounded silly to them. They all treated me with respect. I will never break a bone just to see them again but if I do I would be happy to be under their care.

Not happy with the wait time. (well over an hour just for x- rays, then another 10 minute wait to see the doctor). When I said I was going to miss my bus the nurse said I should have allowed more than an hour for my 15 minute appointment.

I appreciated the doctor taking the time to explain his advice very carefully including practical matters that might not affect the healing but the experience. I did have one additional question about improving blood flow to an area to stimulate healing but I forgot to ask it. The staff was hanging out at the desk when I got out of the room; I had a question about transporation that was beyond the strictly medical part. They looked at me blankly but then tried to answer it with what they'd heard here & there. Maybe consider having medical transport info available in the orthopaedist's office? Another suggestion: if the medical staff adopted the practice of considering the patients to be their responsibility the whole time they're in the medical area - even after their specific medical task was done. Imagine, you're an orthopedic patient so you have trouble moving, and you're by yourself -- you're getting ready to leave, and 3 able people are right there chatting and you have to interrupt for information or just limp out without them acknowledging you. It's just kind of a downer when people are very friendly when they're doing something with you and then ignore you after they're done. I think all of them were kind people but they weren't aware they were still "on stage." So maybe something like the person who escorts the patient into the area is responsible to be aware of them til they leave? Do note I would still recommend the practice. They got me in quickly on short notice and they were nice and gave me good directions when I had to call about parking. I felt medically very well taken care of. There was just that one thing at the end that could be improved.
