What is minimally invasive gynecologic surgery?

Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is a procedure done with small or no incisions rather than one large one, according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. The surgeon is able to see with a small camera or telescope attached to the instruments, according to the ASRM.

Some common conditions treated with minimally invasive gynecologic surgery are irregular menstrual periods, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and numerous miscarriages, according to the Mayo Clinic.
