What can women do to detect lung cancer sooner?

Women with a heavy smoking history who are older than 55 may qualify for lung cancer screening with a low dose CT scan of the chest. This is similar to getting mammograms to detect breast cancer earlier. But undergoing a low dose CT scan may be a more complex decision and should be thoroughly discussed with the woman’s doctor before undertaking the screening.
