What are the types of uterine cancer?

Endometrial cancer is the most common type of uterine cancer, according to the Foundation for Women’s CancerOff Site Icon (FWC). The endometrium is the lining of the uterus where most uterine cancers begin because of cancerous changes in the lining, the FWC states.

Uterine sarcomas are another type of uterine cancer, reports the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s HealthOff Site Icon (HHS). Uterine sarcomas develop when cancer grows in the muscles or supporting tissues in the uterus; uterine sarcomas account for only a small portion of cancers of the uterus, according to the HHS.
