Genetic testing isn’t available for every type of gynecological cancer, and where it does apply depends on the individual illness, according to The Centers for Disease Control and PreventionOff Site Icon (CDC).

Two types of gynecologic cancer that may be recommended for genetic testing include endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer, according to the Society of Gynecologic OncologyOff Site Icon (SGO). Women who do not have these cancers but have a relative – mother, sister, daughter – who does have one of these diseases, are usually recommended for genetic testing, according to the SGO.
