What are the treatment options?

The first treatment option available was Beta Seron, which came out in 1993. Between 1993 and 2004 all of the MS treatments were injections. We now have more than a dozen treatments that can be taken by injection, by mouth (pills) and by IV infusion. The therapies vary greatly in strength, side effects and risk profiles. They each take a different approach to the immune system, so if one medication does not work to stop a patient's MS, we can move to another approach.
