Who develops essential tremor?

Essential tremor can affect anyone. It is an autosomal dominant disease. We estimate that 10 million Americans have essential tremor. It most commonly affects middle-aged individuals, age 40 and above, although anyone could develop essential tremor. We treat children – even as young as the age of 6 – with essential tremor, all the way up into people as old as 99.
