Essential Tremor

Premier Health providers answer frequently asked questions about essential tremor.

When should a person see a doctor regarding essential tremor?

We recommend that if someone develops a tremor to seek medical advice to rule out other causes of essential tremor, such as thyroid abnormalities. We also want to rule out electrolyte abnormalities and to make sure that other medications a person is on are not causing the tremor. In addition, we want to rule out Parkinson's disease, as well as dystonia.
