What are the treatment options for migraines?

Treatment options for migraines similar to tension-type headache are divided into acute therapies and preventative therapies. Acute therapies again, we can use over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen, Tylenol, Excedrin. And there are more migraine-specific medications as well called triptans, like Sumitriptan or Imitrex. Preventative medications for migraine range from prescription medications, such as anti-seizure medications, beta blockers, anti-depressants and natural supplements, such as magnesium and Vitamin B2.
