A cyclist may choose to start small in returning to the sport after an injury, the Ohio Athletic Trainer’s AssociationOff Site Icon (OATA) states.

Some recommendations for returning to cycling after an injury are to start out riding on level surfaces and try to keep gearing at a lower level, says Brian Jans.

While further study is needed, according to the National Institutes of HealthOff Site Icon (NIH), research suggests that cyclists are often injured, but continue to participate in the activity at the same level as a healthy person with chronic pain common among them.
