Answers to Common Eye Health Questions

Premier Health providers answer frequently asked questions about eye health.

What is an intraocular lens?

An intraocular lens (IOL) is an artificial lens placed inside your eye, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

When an IOL is put in, your natural lens is surgically removed. This is usually part of cataract surgery.

The IOL replaces the focusing power of your natural lens.

Talk to your doctor for more information about intraocular lenses.
