Anterior hip replacement, a procedure in which the incision is made in the front of the patient rather than through the side or back, is increasingly more common for a number of reasons having to do with its benefits, according to the National Institutes of Health. According to the NIH, patients who have anterior hip replacement as opposed to other surgical hip replacement methods may experience:
- Less blood loss
- Decreased dislocation rate
- Faster recovery
- Retention of normal muscle strength
