Osteoarthritis is a degenerative, common form of arthritis, according to the Arthritis FoundationOff Site Icon.

Some symptoms of osteoarthritis are painful swelling and stiffness of the joints, according to the National Institutes of HealthOff Site Icon. The pain may come and go, or can be ongoing, even during rest or sleep, according to the NIH. Osteoarthritis usually develops in the neck, lower back, hands, knees and hips, according to the NIH.
