Research on the efficacy of supplements to treat arthritis has not kept up with consumer demand, according to the Arthritis FoundationOff Site Icon. While some patients have reported to have experienced relief using supplements, there is still no concrete evidence that supplements do, or do not, help in the treatment of arthritis.

The active ingredients in herbal remedies are similar to other medicines, and there is no evidence to suggest that supplements are safer or more effective than conventional medications, according to the American College of RheumatologyOff Site Icon.
