Meet the Sports Medicine Team at Beavercreek High School.

Kelsie Dufford, MS, AT

Kelsie DuffordKelsie Dufford earned her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Marietta College. She also completed her master’s degree from Texas State University. She is certified in CPR and as a first-aid instructor. Kelsie has served as athletic trainer to several area high schools. She joined Premier Health in 2015. “I always knew I wanted to work in health care and I love sports; athletic training is a great combination of the two,” she said. Kelsie enjoys running and watching the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team.

Ryan Pearson, AT

Ryan PearsonRyan graduated from Capital University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2014. In 2016 he graduated from Ohio University with a master’s degree in athletic training. While in high school Ryan played multiple sports and had his share of injuries. Although he didn’t know fully what an athletic trainer was, seeing the athletic trainer’s work at his high school was enough to show him he wanted to pursue a career in athletic training. “I saw the impact he was able to make on the lives of athletes, and I knew at that point it was what I wanted to do.” Ryan enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything sport-related. He joined Premier Health in 2016 and is currently an athletic trainer for Vandalia-Butler High School.

Kevin Swartz, AT, CES

Kevin SwartzKevin Swartz earned his degree in athletic training from Wright State University. He joined Premier Health in 2016. Kevin enjoys running and almost anything that involves being active. “I've always been a runner, so I can appreciate how important it is to stay injury-free for competition and how frustrating it is when you do get hurt,” he said.

Paul Krebs, MD

Paul A. Krebs, MDDr. Paul A. Krebs graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He completed the Wright State University family medicine residency program and The Ohio State University primary care sports medicine fellowship program. Dr. Krebs is board certified in sports medicine and practices with Premier Orthopedics. He has a special interest in interventional ultrasound procedures, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, and the care of endurance athletes.

Jeffrey A. James, DO - Medical Director

Jeffrey A. James, DODr. Jeffrey A. James received his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. Dr. James completed a family medicine residency at TriHealth Bethesda in 2015 and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at TriHealth Bethesda in 2016. He is board certified in family medicine and practices with Premier Orthopedics.

Dr. James is a Credentialed ImPACT® Consultant trained in treating concussions as well as administering and interpreting the ImPACT® test.

Mike Herbenick, MD - Orthopedic Consultant

Michael A. Herbenick, MDDr. Michael Herbenick graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2000 and also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Wright State. Dr. Herbenick then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine and practices with Premier Orthopedics.

Joe Rubino, MD - Orthopedic Consultant

L. Joseph Rubino, III, MDDr. Joseph Rubino graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1999. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Rubino completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Virginia. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Rubino practices with Premier Orthopedics.
