Turning Point

If you have difficulties in your life with drinking or drug use, Turning Point offers several treatment options to help you find solutions. One of our counselors will work with you to determine which option is best for your particular situation.

Turning Point is Miami Valley Hospital’s intensive outpatient alcohol and drug treatment program designed for adults age 18 and older who don’t require or don’t have access to inpatient care. As a participant, you meet three times a week for six weeks, in either morning or evening.

Our experienced counselors provide education, group therapy, and biweekly individual sessions. Our family program offers support to you and your loved ones. A doctor can also prescribe Vivitrol® as a medication-assisted treatment if you are working through opioid addiction. Vivitrol blocks the effects of opioid drugs so you can receive the full benefit of counseling sessions.

Our standard outpatient program can help if your addiction is less severe, providing you with consistent motivation and direction to maintain abstinence. The standard program includes fewer hours per week than the intensive program, ranging from two three-hour sessions to a one-hour session each week.

We also have an educational program if you have crossed the line of social drinking or drug use and have experienced at least one serious incident that has harmed your relationships, job, or health.

We want to help you better understand alcoholism and addiction and practice new behaviors that support your sobriety. You’ll work one on one with a counselor as you create a plan to help you achieve your goals. Several of our counselors are recovering from substance use disorder themselves, giving them firsthand understanding about the challenges you face.

Our staff is here to motivate and encourage you so you can improve your quality of life. We have a very high success rate with clients who are ready and motivated to participate in their recovery.

Group sessions are held:

Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday:

  • 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • 6 - 9 p.m.

Samaritan Behavioral Health also offers substance abuse services.
