Patient Guide

Premier Urology Specialists provides comprehensive care to people with urology needs throughout Dayton and the surrounding area. Our experienced providers are dedicated to offering you high quality, personalized care. We look forward to serving you.

Appointment/Procedure Preparation

To schedule an appointment, call our office at Premier Urology Specialists. We ask new patients to arrive 15 minutes before their initial appointment to complete a Patient Registration Form and a Medical Information Form. In addition, you may be asked to complete a Medical Records Release Form, which allows our office to obtain medical records from your previous doctors. Any special instructions regarding your appointment will be discussed with you during the initial phone conversation.

What to Expect

If you are a new patient, please be sure to bring your medications to your appointment, as well as a list of allergies, your insurance card(s) and photo ID. Established patients should bring your insurance cards to each visit. You will be asked to complete a new Patient Registration Form annually so that your information is updated and you renew permission to bill your insurance.

You should also be prepared to give a urine sample at the time of your visit. The following types of appointments have more detailed preparation.

Prostate Ultrasound and Biopsy

  • Stop aspirin and blood thinners one week before your appointment.
  • Use a Fleet® enema two to three hours before the procedure. (Dr. Abromowitz’s patients should also use one the evening prior.)
  • Take your antibiotic prescription as prescribed beginning the morning of the procedure

Please contact the office at (937) 734-3970(937) 734-3970 for any additional prep instructions specific to your provider.

Bladder Ultrasound

Please come with a full bladder. Please drink four, 8-ounce glasses of liquid in the hour before your appointment and do not urinate during that time.

  • Do not take aspirin or blood thinners one week before the procedure.
  • Shave the scrotal area.
  • Please wear tight briefs or a jockstrap for added support following the procedure.
  • No work the day of or the day following the procedure.

After Your Visit or Procedure

At the end of your visit you will receive an After-Visit Summary, which will include your physician's instructions and appropriate education materials or suggestions.  You will be asked to sign up for MyChart so that we will be able to communicate via our secured website, back and forth, as needed. MyChart also allows you to schedule appointments, check your current and past lab results, and ask other medical questions. Our office communicates results promptly either by phone, letter, or MyChart.

About Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

The physician and staff will document your medical information, including your list of current medications, immunizations and preventive health screenings, personal health history, family health history, any current active medical problems, vital signs and the details of each visit with the physician, in our electronic medical record.  Each exam room is equipped with a computer terminal. While the medical assistant and the physician focus on your visit, they may also enter important information into your medical record, order tests, and list medications and other health information.

How Does the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Benefit You?

The medical information entered in our system is accessible to only health care providers in the Premier Health network of physicians and hospitals. This ensures that when you visit a Premier hospital or specialist, that physician has your most accurate and up-to-date medical information. This is especially important if you should have a medical emergency or illness that requires hospitalization.

Another benefit is that we can quickly get your test results from services performed in a Premier hospital or diagnostic facility, and laboratory services performed at Compunet Clinical Laboratories.

Referring you to Premier Health facilities is easy and efficient, as instructions from the physician to the hospital or facility are sent electronically. The facility will contact you within 24 hours to schedule your services and instruct you on test preparation. Most test results are available for the physician to review electronically in 48 to 72 hours; many are available even sooner.

Prescriptions and refills of medications can be sent electronically to your pharmacy, or — in most cases — to your mail order pharmacy service. This speeds the process for you and improves communication and accuracy between the physician and pharmacist.

All health care service providers are bound by Premier Health's confidentiality and compliance policies, as well as government regulations regarding protection of your privacy, when using the EMR. Your information is safe and secure, accessible only by those directly involved in your care.

Billing and Insurance

If you are scheduled for a procedure or testing in the office or at the surgery center, our financial counselor will review your insurance plan benefits and then contact you up to one week prior to your appointment to let you know what your responsibility is. This amount will be collected at the time of service, or a payment plan can be set up.

The Premier Physician Network customer service team is happy to answer any questions about billing and insurance you may have. Find detailed billing and insurance information in the Premier Physician Network’s billing section.
