Miami Valley Hospital South Set to Open $60 Million Expansion

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (December 6, 2018) – Miami Valley Hospital South will open the doors of a major expansion to keep pace with growing demand for its services.

On Sunday, December 9, 2018, officials with Premier Health and Miami Valley Hospital South gathered to officially launch the $60 million expansion construction project on its campus in Centerville.  A joint and spine center will be the cornerstone of the project, which is expected to be completed in stages through the third quarter of 2018. The center of excellence will feature expanded sports medicine, sports performance and pain center services.

“The orthopedic program at Miami Valley Hospital South already ranks in the top 10 percent nationwide by many measures,” said Mike Maiberger, president of Miami Valley Hospital. “We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to increase the program’s capacity to give more people quick access to this quality care close to home.”

Other expanded services will be emergency medicine, cardiology and primary care. The expanded hospital will for the first time have a cardiac catheterization lab, as well as enough medical office space for dozens of additional physicians. Six operating rooms will be added, bringing the site’s total to 16. The expansion will also include 20 additional inpatient beds.

“We’ve reached capacity here in many of these services, and we are still experiencing increased demand,” said Joann Ringer, vice president and chief operating officer of Miami Valley Hospital South.

The project will add 170,000 square feet to the hospital, and in addition will include renovation to 42,000 of more than 580,000 existing square feet.
