Premier Health Hospitals Score High in Annual U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Miami Valley Hospital Ranked 8th in the State; Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) is 22nd

Dayton, OH (August 2, 2016) – Miami Valley Hospital ranked eighth among Ohio’s hospitals in the latest annual rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report, up two spots from last year. The hospital again ranked highest in the Dayton area.

Good Samaritan Hospital ranked 22nd in the state.

Among all hospitals nationwide, Miami Valley Hospital leaped to 23rd for its pulmonology care, up from 45th the previous year.

All four Premier Health hospitals also ranked as “high-performing” in at least one area of care.

Miami Valley Hospital had 14 such designations for cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery; geriatrics; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; colon cancer surgery; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); hip replacement; knee replacement; and lung cancer surgery.

Good Samaritan Hospital had four “high-performing” designations, including heart failure; COPD; hip replacement and knee replacement. Atrium Medical Center had two such designations, for heart failure and COPD. Upper Valley Medical Center was recognized for its care of patients with COPD.
