Premier Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center Opens New Infusion Room

Room in response to increased demand for practice’s services

DAYTON, Ohio (May 24, 2013) – The Premier Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center has opened a new infusion room, enabling the practice to handle more cases of infusion therapy in the Dayton area.

The practice’s new infusion room can serve five patients at once and offers a warm atmosphere with a television and DVD player as well as free Wi-Fi, snacks and drinks. Maria Thomas-John, MD, said the room allows the practice to offer an enhanced patient experience and improved health care delivery.

“The goal of our therapy is to return the patient to normal life as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Thomas-John, MD, the Premier HealthNet rheumatologist who practices at the center. “To accomplish this goal, some therapies must be performed in regular intervals; often every four weeks. Since many patients are here for about three hours at a time it was very important to create an environment that increased their comfort.”

Infusion therapy is also known as intravenous therapy (IV therapy) because it is administered directly into the blood stream through a vein. Infusions can often be the best way for patients to receive a sufficient dose of medication and eliminate the need for frequent injections or monitoring oral medications. Infusion therapy is used at Premier Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and other arthritic diseases.

The infusion room is an added service for patients who come to the Center. The infusion room at the Premier Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center is available Monday through Friday and is serviced by a full-time registered nurse.

Premier Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center, located at 1520 S. Main St., is a specialty rheumatology practice. Rheumatology is a rapidly evolving medical specialty. New scientific discoveries for treating rheumatologic disorders have occurred over the past few years including medicines that help patients affected by these diseases lead a near-normal life by reducing disability.
