Clemens Cancer Challenge Benefits MVH Cancer Patients

DAYTON, OH (February 22, 2016) – Registration is now open for the Clemens Cancer Challenge, a bike ride and a 5K run/walk to benefit programs and services for cancer patients at Miami Valley Hospital.

Coordinated through the MVH Foundation, the fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 18, 2016, and will kick off at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Miami Valley Hospital South located at the intersection of Wilmington Pike and Clyo Road in Centerville. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. with the ride getting underway at 8 a.m. and the 5K run/walk at 8:15 a.m.

Experienced and novice cyclists and runners are invited to participate and to help raise dollars to support cancer resources and the environment of care for MVH cancer patients and their families.

Cyclists can choose from a range of ride distances of 10, 30 or 40 miles to a more challenging 62-mile route. (Please note: the 30+ mile routes are recommended for the more experienced, long-duration rider.) The registration fee for cycling is $35 prior to the event and $40 the day of the ride.

Cost to register for the 5K is $20 preregistration and $25 the day of the event.

Participants for both events will receive free refreshments, lunch, and a t-shirt. To sign up or to learn more about either event visit www.mvhfoundation.org.

The Clemens Cancer Challenge celebrates the inspiration and memory of those who have fought, continue to fight or have lost the courageous battle against cancer, including Richard and Nancy Clemens for whom the event is named.

This is the eighth year Miami Valley Hospital South has hosted the Clemens ride. What began in 2003 with just a dozen riders is now an annual event that has seen hundreds of cyclists – and now runners and walkers – raise funds to support programs benefitting MVH cancer patients.
