Area Doctor Conducts Osteoarthritis Educational Session

Englewood, Ohio – Dr. Jon Ryan, D.O. will be presenting an osteoarthritis educational session on Wednesday, May 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Englewood Government Center located at 333. W. National Rd. There is no cost to attend, but reservations are suggested.

Almost 21 million Americans live with osteoarthritis. While the condition varies dramatically among patients, many suffer from limitation in motion. Osteoarthritis is not a crippling form of arthritis, although the damage it causes is not reversible.

The most common joint disease among middle-aged and older people, it is characterized by progressive damage to the joint cartilage, which may limit movement and cause pain and swelling. Women are affected more than men, especially in the fingers and knees.

Dr. Ryan will cover subjects such as how osteoarthritis is diagnosed and the variety of treatment options, what causes it, how to live with osteoarthritis, how adopting a healthy lifestyle can help, and how to find a qualified rheumatologist.

Dr. Ryan is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and Des Moines University Medical School. He completed his fellowship in rheumatology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He has been with  North Dayton Rheumatology and  Premier HealthNet since April, 2006.
