Taking Mammography on the Road

Making it easy for every woman to get a potentially life-saving mammogram is Atrium Medical Center Foundation’s goal. The Every Woman, Everywhere campaign is raising funds to put a mobile mammography unit on the road in southwest Ohio. The mobile unit will be staffed with registered radiological technologists, the same team who work at Atrium’s Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Women’s Center.

This new unit will make breast cancer screening easier by:

  • Taking mammography technology right to where women are — community events, schools, churches, health fairs and work
  • Offering mammograms identical in quality to those at “bricks and mortar” centers, with digital and new 3-D mammograms
  • Offering an easy process, since no doctor’s prescription is needed for a screening mammogram
  • Providing a comfortable, private, upscale setting

Funds from the Every Woman, Everywhere campaign also will enable Atrium to:

  • Bring health screenings and education to more women
  • Keep up with changing, expensive technology, equipment and treatments for women’s health
  • Provide for the unmet needs of uninsured or underinsured women
  • Establish endowments for women’s services for generations to come
