Is there a link between breast cancer and ovarian cancer?

Some patients carry a genetic risk for breast cancer and ovarian cancer, according to the Foundation for Women’s CancerOff Site Icon (FWC). BRCA1 and BRCA2 are genes that repair DNA. Mutations in these genes can result in a failure of that function and can lead to the development of cancer, states the FWC.

Having a personal history or a family history of breast cancer, colon cancer, uterine cancer, or rectal cancer may increase one’s risk of ovarian cancer, according to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund AllianceOff Site Icon (OCRFA).
