A total shoulder replacement can last more than 10 years, according to the National Institutes of HealthOff Site Icon (NIH). Some total shoulder replacements and reverse shoulder replacements can last 15 years or more, the NIH states.

Like with any surgical procedure, it’s important to follow your doctor’s instructions very carefully to help make a surgery successful, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic SurgeonsOff Site Icon (AAOS). The same is true for post-operative care in the long term, the AAOS states.
