How Can I Keep my Skin Looking Healthy?

Our skin is what the world first sees of us, so we all want it to look good!

In addition to taking vitamins, you can keep your skin healthy and looking its best by following these tips from the National Institutes of Health:

  • Keep it clean – Washing your skin helps keep it healthy. Wash with water that’s warm (not too hot) to keep it from getting too dry. Also, use some lotions to keep skin smooth.
  • Enjoy the sun, but be protected – Being in the sun makes your skin produce vitamin D, which helps keep your bones and other parts of your body healthy. But too much sun can damage you skin, cause it to look old too soon and can even cause cancer. Anytime you’re outside, make sure you’re wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or 45. Reapply if you’re in the sun for many hours.
  • Be active – When you’re active, you increase the flow of blood to the skin’s surface. Sweating helps flush impurities from your skin.
  • Eat a balanced diet – While there’s not a “good skin” diet, eating a balanced diet helps provide healthy nutrients for your skin.
