Conference Description

Premier Health will hold the 3rd Annual EMS Symposium at Trauma and Critical Care Update 2019. The EMS Symposium is designed to provide content for prehospital and hospital emergency providers of all levels. The Trauma and Critical Care Update is designed to provide current information on the challenges healthcare professionals encounter when caring for the critically ill or injured patients. EMS may choose to attend sessions from both events.

  • EMS Center of Excellence
  • The Heart Institute of Dayton

6.5 State of Ohio approved EMS CEUs will be offered.

Keynote Speakers

Escott HSMark E. Escott, MD, MPH, FACEP, FAEMS
Medical Director
Austin Travis County EMS

Dr. Mark Escott serves as the EMS System Medial Director for the city of Austin and Travis County, Texas and the Texas Department of Public Safety. He is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. He is also appointed as a Senior Lecturer at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. Dr. Escott currently serves as the Chair of the Section of EMS and Prehospital Medicine of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Subspecialty board certified in EMS. He has published numerous articles, abstracts, papers, and presentations related to EMS, disaster management, and public health.

Pickett HSJason R. Pickett, MD, FACEP, FAEMS
Deputy Medical Director
Austin Travis County EMS

Dr. Jason Pickett serves as the EMS System Deputy Medical Director for the city of Austin and Travis County, Texas and for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Ranger Division Special Operations Group. Dr. Pickett is the Tactical EMS Co-Chair for the Special Operations Medicine Scientific Assembly and is a member of the Guidelines and Practice Committee for the National Association of EMS Physicians. He is also a member of the Guidelines Committee for the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. Dr. Pickett is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Subspecialty board certified in Emergency Medical Services. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the West Virginia Army National Guard as a Battalion Surgeon in a special operations unit.
