Schools are at the heart of a community. They are where our friends and families come together for academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities. A place where our youth build on their values, strengths and encouragement for a positive future. A place where our general community members plan and foster an overall environment of vitality and possibilities. Premier Health is proud to partner with our area schools to help meet the need for community support at a fundamental level – where our investment lies in our youth and the future quality of life of the communities we serve.
Our School Partners
Our College and University Partners
Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Services
As the official sports medicine partner of many area schools and colleges, Premier Health leads the region in caring for student athletes. We are proud to provide certified and licensed athletic trainers to each of our school partners. Our athletic trainers are trained in injury prevention, recognition and treatment of sports related injuries. The athletic trainers work in conjunction with our board certified sports medicine physicians as well as other rehabilitation specialists making it easy to get the care you need and get back in the game.
Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit
The PASP program qualifies participants to apply for the Ohio Department of Education's PASP — a requirement for all coaches according to Ohio High School Athletic Association regulations. Each certificate is valid for three years and should be renewed in the final year of certification. The class is designed to teach individuals the basics of injury prevention, injury care, and health issues, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and infection control. It is a great program for coaches or others who supervise students after school. The class lasts approximately two hours
Certification classes are taught by our athletic trainers to the coaches in our partnership schools. CPR certification is provided through either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
Medical Education Programs
We work hand in hand with educators and other school staff to offer programs which supplement STEMM programming and enhance the existing academic curriculum and promote physical & mental wellness. Our programs are designed to cover principles of bio-medical sciences and human body systems with both traditional classroom discussion as well interactive methods.
Healthcare Career Exploration Programs
We also offer career exploration programs designed to stimulate student interest in healthcare careers and potentially entering “the pipeline” of future providers in the local community.
Volunteer and Service Opportunities
In our partner schools, we also encourage participation in volunteer activities at our hospitals and healthcare centers, to gain exposure in a variety of areas.
Premier Health offers school communities (faculty/staff, students, parents/families, community members) an opportunity to become better educated about healthcare. We provide a wide range of interesting programs regarding health information, healthcare advances, and health education and career opportunities. Our speakers include physicians, nurses, and other staff members.
Employee Wellness Programs and Supplemental Healthcare Services
These may include but are not limited to health screenings, flu shots, other health programs and Fidelity Health Care Nursing for school nursing needs.
Premier Health is proud to have over 2,300 physicians credentialed at our facilities. Search Find a Doctor to find a physician credentialed in Sports Medicine.
