Aquatic Therapy

Premier Health aquatic therapy offers warm-water therapeutic pools.  The program allows the patient to benefit from physical therapy treatment in a warm water pool.  The buoyancy of water decreases the effects of gravity on joints, balance, weight bearing and venous blood pooling.  Patients note increased relaxation, ease of movement and decreased pain while exercising in warm water.  Treatment may include exercise, gait training and massage.  Specific diagnoses that may benefit from aquatic therapy may include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Joint pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle weakness
  • Joint replacement
  • Neurological disorders
  • Diagnoses that require weight bearing restrictions
