Orthopedic Ankle and Foot Care at Premier Health

Ankle and foot pain can limit your ability to enjoy life to the fullest. You may have lost the ability to engage in your favorite activities. We want to help you overcome your pain and improve your quality of life.

Our nationally recognized specialists evaluate you carefully and explore non-surgical treatment options to reduce or eliminate your pain. These may include physical therapy or pain management through steroid injections or anti-inflammatory medications.

However, if your foot or ankle pain continues to prevent you from activities or performing simple functions in your daily life, then it may be time to consider surgery.

Ankle and Foot Surgery

Should surgery be necessary, you can rest assured that you’ll receive outstanding care that makes you and your family comfortable.

Some conditions that might lead to ankle or foot surgery include:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Ankle instability
  • Arthritis
  • Deformity of the forefront and toes
  • Osteochondral defects or injuries
  • Posterior tibial tendon disease
  • Recurrent ankle sprains

Offered through:  Miami Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Atrium Medical Center, Upper Valley Medical Center

Minimally Invasive Procedures

In some cases, minimally invasive surgical options may be available. Arthroscopy enables your surgeon to inspect, diagnose and repair problems inside your ankle with just a few small incisions.

During arthroscopy, your surgeon inserts a tiny camera, called an arthroscope, into your ankle joint through a small incision. The camera displays pictures on a television screen, and the surgeon uses these images to guide miniature surgical instruments through other small incisions.

Like other minimally invasive procedures, arthroscopy has some important benefits:

  • Less pain
  • Faster recovery
  • Less scarring
  • Less blood loss

Offered through:  Miami Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Atrium Medical Center, Upper Valley Medical Center

Ankle Replacement

In some cases, your physician may recommend ankle replacement surgery. An ankle replacement may significantly reduce or eliminate your pain and allow you to resume many of the activities you enjoyed before your pain began.

Offered through:  Miami Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Atrium Medical Center
